Mayor Cuevas donates Php 950,000.00, capital city remains COVID19 Free

6 days after the President declared the Philippines under “State of Calamity” due to COVID19 outbreak, Palayan City remains unharmed.  

Since the statements of President Duterte on March 17, 2020 about the outbreak of COVID19 in Metro Manila, the city of Palayan headed by the city mayor, Hon. Adrianne Mae J. Cuevas continues to make precautionary measures against COVID-19.

Since the outbreak of COVID19 in Metro Manila, news about good Samaritans remain discreet. In the capital city of Nueva Ecija, wealthy citizens have been kind. Meals and drinks have been distributed to our front liners. Many of which were sent to CDRRMC Operation Center while some were distributed through barangays and on site.

Hon. Adriane Mae J. Cuevas, the city Mayor spearheaded the donation of PPEs for our doctors and nurses on March 18, 2020. It was then followed by Councilor Julius “Mader” Sta Maria, donating vitamins and facemasks for our frontliners on March 19, 2020. Owners of business establishments also donated food packs. Small scale vendors also donated snacks for our frontliners.

On March 23, 2020, Hon. Adrianne Mae J. Cuevas and her husband Sir Vince “Bong” Cuevas donated almost a million pesos (Php 950,000.00) to the city. It was then distributed equally among the 19 barangays of the capital (Php 50,000). This amount will be used to sustain the needs of every Palayanos. Praises and commendation have been flowing because of the benevolence of Cuevas’ family for every Palayanos.

In the community, barangay officials have been rendering effort to provide ration for their constituents to avoid revolt. Aside from that, home quarantine pass has been distributed to every family. This pass will be used to buy food and medicine. Only one (1) person can bring the pass.

The city government continues to distribute goods/supplies. Also, offices of the city disinfect public places like the flea market. Precautionary measure and safety of Palayanos remain the priority of the city.

Chronology of Events   

On February 17, 2020, Palayan City had an Inter-agency Planning Workshop and Preparation of Contingency Plan for COVID-19. It was held at the Palayan City Conference Center. The meeting was attended by different local offices (CDRRMO, CPDO, CSWDO, ENRO, CAgO, CVO, CHO & CMO) and national agencies (PNP & DILG).

In addition, on March 9, 2020, Task-Force and contingency plan against COVID-19 of Palayan City was finalized and approved by our city Mayor, Hon. Adrianne Mae J. Cuevas at CDRRMC Emergency Operation Center.

Furthermore, on March 16, 2020, the city of Palayan conducted “Donning and Doffing (Sequence of Putting on PPE) Training of Personal Protective Equipment.” It was held at Rural Health Unit of Palayan City and attended by the CHO, City Infirmary, Rescue Team of Palayan City and ENRO personnel.

March 17, 2020, PRRD declares “State of Calamity” throughout the Philippines due to Corona Virus Disease (COVID19) for a period of 6 months, unless earlier lifted or extended as circumstance may warrant.

Moreover, The Office of the City Mayor released the Executive Order No. 06 S. 2020. It is an Order Implementing the Enhanced Community Quarantine and Further Guidelines for the Management of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Situation within the Jurisdiction of Palayan City.

Additionally, March 18, 2020, After PRRDs declaration, the Inter-Agency Task Force had an emergency meeting. It was attended by the City Vice Mayor Hon. Moises Carmona Jr and the City Administrator, Atty. Jemuel Dela Cruz. The meeting was held at the CDRRMC Operation Center.

Furthermore, Palayan City “COVID-19 Watch” has been started. This bulletin has been regularly updated to monitor the city regarding the total number of PUIs, PUMs and confirmed cases of COVID19.

Current Situation

As of March 23, 2020, there have been zero (0) confirmed cases of COVID in Palayan City, however, person under monitoring (PUM) is increasing. Brgy. Malate has the highest number of PUMs having sixty-seven (67). Lowest number of PUMs is Barangay Aulo with nine (9).

In the province, there have been three (3) confirmed cases, 169 total number of PUIs and 24, 280 confirmed total PUMs.
